My Health, My Voice resources

We know that communication is important in healthcare. 1 in 3 people in Ireland find it hard to access and understand health-related information. We know that some people don't like asking question. We also know some people find it hard to know where to start.

Working with staff and patients and people using health and social care services, we have developed the My Health, My Voice resources. We hope they will help you. There is a leaflet, video and poster.

When using health and social care services, we encourage you to:

  • ask questions and be involved in your own care plan.
  • write down any symptoms or questions you have to share with your healthcare professional.

The 'My Health, My Voice' leaflet was developed for World Patient Safety Day shares 3 questions that can help you get started. These questions are:

  1. What do I need to know now?
  2. What do I need to do next and why?
  3. What can I expect?
