Apply for the S.A.F.E Programme

The HSE National Quality and Patient Safety Directorate (NQPSD) is delighted to fund a new cohort of the Situation Awareness for Everyone (SAFE) programme, delivered in partnership with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) to focus on enhancing safety culture in the acute hospitals.

This cohort will commence in October 2024 and the closing date for applications is Wednesday 14 August, 5pm.

What is the SAFE programme?

The aim is to improve clinical communication, address safety risks and reduce potential patient harm at the front line of healthcare. The SAFE programme is facilitated by subject matter and improvement experts from the faculty of the RCPI. They support participating teams to implement or improve safety huddle's using Quality Improvement methodology and Patient Safety approaches. . A key feature of the SAFE programme is to enable participating teams to develop their own bespoke safety huddles, thereby creating an environment of psychological safety for participants.

21 CPD are awarded to learners on completion of the programme.

How is SAFE delivered?

SAFE is delivered over 6 blended learning sessions, two in-person days and four virtual half days.

How much does it cost?

The programme is fully-funded by the NQPSD for each team that is accepted onto the programme.
