QPS TalkTime No.1: How do we provide safe care in today's context? Dr. Suzette Woodward

On the first QPS TalkTime of 2023 we were joined by Dr. Suzette Woodward. Suzette a former paediatric intensive care nurse, Suzette has worked in the NHS for over 40 years with 20 years focusing on patient safety. She has more recently been an advisor to a variety of national and international bodies and a Board member at the National Patient Safety Agency and NHS Resolution. In this QPS TalkTime we explores the impact of behaviours like incivility and bullying and on safety and the potential solutions. Suzette also speaks about psychological safety and safety II.

QPS TalkTime No. 2: Building a health Learning System, Tom Foley

On the Second QPS TalkTime of the series we were joined by Tom Foley. Tom is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in the HSE. He is also the Principal Investigator on the Health Foundation funded, Learning Healthcare Project at Newcastle University. Until 2020, he was Senior Clinical Lead for data at NHS Digital, where he had clinical responsibility for the English national data collections. Before moving home, Tom worked with NHS England, NHSX, Health Education England, the Care Quality Commission and the General Medical Council. He contributed to many of the recent English Health IT strategies and has conducted policy reviews for various organisations. Prior to training in Medicine, Tom was a Management Consultant with PwC in Belfast. He is passionate about the sociotechnical challenges to realising the potential of Learning Health Systems.

QPS TalkTime No.3: Explore the Prospectus of QPS Education and Learning Programmes 2023

On QPS TalkTime No.3 we explored the prospectus of QPS Education and Learning Programmes 2023 and what opportunities are available to those who wish to expand their Quality and Patient safety knowledge. During the webinar we ran 13 breakout sessions each focusing on different aspects of the prospectus. Muiris explores what narrative medicine is, how stories in heathcare improve care and patient safety and how you can use this approach in your work.

QPS TalkTime No 6: Safer Surgeries...Steps to reduce risk of harm

On this QPS TalkTime we looked out at how we can make surgeries safer. We were joined by a fantastic panel who discussed the revision and new stages within the HSE Policy for Safe Surgery 2022, Introduction of a new HSELand E-learning prorgamme, pilot adapting templates for the new briefing and debriefing stages of the policy within Ireland East Hospital Group operating departments and the new Unexpected Intraoperative Life Threatening Haemorrhage (NCEC NCG No29) poster coming to theatres around the country.
