Unexpected adult intra-operative life threatening Haemorrhage Theatre Poster

An NCEC Guideline for ‘Unexpected Intraoperative Life Threatening Haemorrhage’ has been published. Recommendation 3 of this guideline states that all Adult Intraoperative Theatres in the country must have the National Theatre Poster on display.

We are pleased to announce that the poster distribution process is now underway!

NOTE - Please remember to use indelible ink when recording your hospital specific information on the Poster in line with AMRIC Guidelines.

A contact has been nominated for all hospitals and they will receive a specified number of printed and laminated posters in the coming weeks which are to be placed in all relevant operating rooms.

What is a relevant operating room?

A relevant operating room is where any open or laparoscopic / operative intervention in the chest, abdomen or pelvis takes place or where is potential to inadvertently enter one of these cavities or cause vascular injury during surgery.

A short information video has been created to provide background, context and instructions related to the Poster and we would encourage all theatre and transfusion laboratory staff to look at this video (Nursing, Surgeons, Gynaecologists, Anaesthesiologists, Lab Scientists, Haematologists & Porters).
