The HSE is inviting patients and healthcare professionals across Ireland to join us in recognising World Thrombosis Day this Sunday 13 October 2024.
What is a blood clot?
A blood clot is a clump of blood that forms in a blood vessel. It is also called a thrombosis. Blood clots can be very serious and need to be treated quickly.
Blood clots can be very treatable if diagnosed on time, but can be dangerous if the signs are ignored. Our goal is to raise awareness about the signs, symptoms, and risk factors of blood clots, and the importance of seeking medical attention early.
How to get involved
We have developed a series of videos for social media for a blood clot awareness campaign which can be downloaded (healthirl.sharefile.eu).
- share the videos across your social media channels
- display the videos in waiting rooms in your service, where available
Connect with us on X @NationalQPS and @NVTEProgramme and join the conversation using #SpotTheClot.
