National Screening Service Social media policy

We use social media platforms to communicate with people interested in our services. This is managed by our Communications department working in partnership with our colleagues across all of our services.

Our social media platforms

What we post about

If you follow us, you can expect our posts to cover some or all of the following:

  • information about our services
  • information about our conferences and events
  • content from our website screeningservice.ie
  • information about general health and wellbeing initiatives relating to our services
  • latest news from across our services
  • new reports and research
  • press releases
  • news from other sources relevant to our services

Our voice and our approach

Our voice and our approach on our social media platforms will reflect our core values of care, compassion, trust and learning, and align with our Communications toolkit (PDF, 649 KB, 43 pages)

Who we follow

We will follow organisations and individuals of relevance to us. This does not imply endorsement of any kind. Sometimes we may follow you so that we can exchange Direct Messages (DMs). If you follow us, we will not automatically follow you back.

Reposts

Reposts of content does not imply endorsement of any kind. We will, from time to time, repost content from other accounts if we think our followers may find the information of interest, relevant to our services, or relevant to health and wellbeing.

@Replies and Direct Messages

We welcome feedback from our followers. We are happy to respond, where relevant, to queries from the public. We do not reply individually to all messages, comments and queries we receive on our social media accounts. We do not provide medical or clinical advice via our social media accounts.

Data Protection

We ask that you safeguard your personal privacy and the privacy of others by not posting personal data in your posts or direct messages to us. This is for the protection of your personal data and private information.

Feedback

If you have a comment, suggestion, complaint or want to give us feedback you can use the Your Service Your Say service by emailing your.say@screeningservice.ie

Questions about our services

If you have a question about any of our screening services, the best way to ask this is to email the relevant service:

CervicalCheck: info@cervicalcheck.ie

BreastCheck: info@breastcheck.ie

BowelScreen: info@bowelscreen.ie

Diabetic RetinaScreen: info@diabeticretinascreen.ie

Media Queries

If you have a media query, email press@hse.ie or call the HSE Press Office on 01 921 3912.

General communications query

If you have a general communications query for us, email: communications@screeningservice.ie

Social media abuse

Abusive or spam posts will be dealt with using the relevant platforms’ policies and guidelines on abusive behaviour and the HSE guidelines on how to deal with social media abuse. This may result in followers being blocked and reported directly to the platform.

Staff posts

All staff should familiarise themselves with the HSE Social Media Policy.

Availability

We will monitor our social media platforms at scheduled times during business hours of the working week (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm). Social media platforms may occasionally be unavailable and we accept no responsibility for lack of service during this downtime.
