Standards for Quality Assurance in Cervical Screening

Quality assurance in screening is carried out to:

  • check the quality of the screening programme
  • ensure compliance with quality requirements and standards
  • support services to improve quality

The Cervical Screening Quality Assurance Committee monitor standards for each part of the cervical screening programme. Our standards and requirements are set out in our Standards for Quality Assurance in Cervical Screening. Specific requirements have been set for each part of the screening programme to ensure the overall quality. These must be met by the programme office, primary care and laboratories.
