This HSE procedure provides clear guidance to all HSE Regional Health Area PHCP governance groups on the measures required to minimise risk when a child receiving nursing care through a Paediatric Homecare Package (PHCP) travels outside the home environment.

This procedure outlines the arrangements, roles, responsibilities, and communication pathways required when a child with complex healthcare needs in receipt of a Paediatric Homecare Package travels outside of the home. The document is intended to ensure that the child receives timely, safe, and coordinated care during periods spent outside of the home setting. It provides guidance for homecare staff and community healthcare teams on how to maintain the continuity of the child’s care effectively when travelling outside the home.
