This Guideline aims to provide evidence-based recommendations for the administration of antenatal corticosteroids, over a variety of pre-defined gestational ranges and clinical circumstances.
This National Clinical Practice Guideline provides an evidence-based framework for antenatal corticosteroid administration to reduce neonatal morbidity and mortality.
It specifies indications, gestational-age thresholds, dosage regimens and timing where preterm birth is anticipated, including at the threshold of viability.
It also addresses late-preterm and term caesarean birth, multiple pregnancy, diabetes, preterm prelabour rupture of membranes, infection and repeat courses, emphasising individualised counselling and the balance between neonatal benefit and potential maternal or neonatal harms.
