Evidence-based recommendations for the care of women with pelvic organ prolapse as well as promoting a standardised approach nationally across all gynaecology units.

This HSE/NWIHP national guideline (2022; revised 2025) provides evidence-based recommendations for the diagnosis and management of pelvic organ prolapse. It addresses initial assessment, conservative options (lifestyle modification, pelvic floor physiotherapy, pessary use), and surgical management including reconstructive and obliterative procedures. Concomitant stress urinary incontinence and postoperative follow-up are also covered, promoting standardised care across Irish gynaecology services.
