Diabetic RetinaScreen participants invited to share their experiences in new digital survey

Following the success of our online Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) survey for people taking part in our BowelScreen and BreastCheck screening programmes, we are now launching a similar project for our Diabetic RetinaScreen programme.

From 9 October 2025, we will be inviting Diabetic RetinaScreen participants to take part in a survey to share their experiences with us.

Aim of the survey

The digital survey asks people about their recent experience of Diabetic RetinaScreen.

The responses will help us to find out:

  • what we are doing well
  • where we can improve the experience for everyone taking part in screening.

Who we are inviting to take part

Diabetic RetinaScreen is for everyone with type 1 and type 2 diabetes aged 12 and over.

We will invite a selection of people who have recently attended screening and have got a normal result. Taking part is completely voluntary and people can opt out. All responses are anonymous and confidential.

How to take part in the survey

Taking part in the survey is easy. We will send a text message inviting people to take part around 5 days after they get their results letter. The message will include a link to the survey. It will take about 10 minutes to complete it.

If you are aged under 16 and you want to take part in the survey:

  • your parent or guardian should give their consent for you to take part
  • you should also agree to take part.

Questions asked in the survey

The survey asks questions about:

  • the invitation process and how accessible screening was
  • your screening appointment, the physical surroundings and timeliness
  • general satisfaction with our screening programme and how we communicate with you.

There are also some questions for women who are pregnant.
