We’ve published a revised edition of our Diabetic RetinaScreen statistical bulletin 2018-2019.
Why was the report revised?
We found that an update in our computer software had led to an error in the way we were counting screening outcomes. A screening ‘outcome’ is the result a person gets from their screening test.
Our counting error meant we had under-represented the number of people who went on for follow up tests and treatment following screening.
What changes were made to the report?
Tables 4, 6 and 7 and Figures 5, 6, and 7 were amended in the report.
Do the changes affect results sent to screening participants?
No. The revisions to the report do not affect the results our screening participants received. All participants who went on for further follow up received the necessary care. The error was in the way we counted people who had received diagnosis and treatment.
Continuous improvement
We have put extra monitoring in place to ensure that updates to our computer software won’t affect the way we count our screening outcomes in future.
