What is the Quality Coach Development programme?
Quality Coaches help teams and individuals make real changes in health and social care. The Quality Coach Development Programme will give participants an opportunity to develop their improvement coaching skills.
The programme covers topics like:
- coaching and foundations of QI
- working with people
- the human side of change
- coaching measurement
Participants must have existing Quality Improvement knowledge and experience to take part in this training.
Time commitment
7 full days with self-directed learning between sessions. We will also host a short welcome and introductory session. Participants must attend all sessions.

Online via Microsoft Teams.

Additional background information
The development of the Quality Coach Development Programme was partially funded through Q Exchange by the Health Foundation and NHS England and NHS Improvement.
The programme was originally designed and developed by a dedicated group of subject matter experts from across the QI community. It has been updated by HSE and HSCQI staff to support our all-island collective efforts to improve quality and patient safety within health and social care services.
There is no fee to take part. However, local organisations will need to cover any opportunity costs for their staff to attend.

During the application process you will need to upload:
- Line manager support form signed by your line manager
- Certificates of completion for the online HSE Land courses:
- Introduction to Quality Improvement (30 mins)
- Foundation in Quality Improvement (3 hours)
